A visit to the headquarters in Giussano and focused on the sustainability aspects of Rimadesio, always attentive towards the environment. Continuous investments in both production systems and innovative technologies aiming to produce and manage energy, together with the recent acquisition of electric-power Bmw i3 cars make Rimadesio one of the most conscientious companies in the matter of sustainability on the international scene.
Which are the common aspects between the fashion and the design world? Two great exponents of the sector express their opinion: fashion designer Sir Paul Smith and businessman Alberto Alessi, honor guests of the first appointment with Talking About 2018 held on June, 18th at the Rimadesio theater in Milan. The two protagonists, interviewed by Michele Lupi, shared their experiences, their history and their training path. A conversation that has compared the fashion industry with that of product design, two parallel and constantly developing worlds. that are making mutual contamination on of their strongest point.

The novelties from the 2017 Rimadesio collection and the new The Spirit of Project catalogue were the protagonists of an event that took place simultaneously on Thursday, November 16th, in all Italian showrooms.
Love Design is an initiative aimed at raising funds for cancer care research. Thanks to the joint commitment of some Italian furniture design leading brands, supported by AIRC and ADI, which guarantee the prestige of this initiative in terms of product quality, Love Design manages to ease the connection between the excellence of Italian creativity, scientific research and charity. From the first edition in 2003 to date, Love Design provided over 18,000 design objects, supplied by 520 companies, raising founds over 2 million euro directed to the best scientific research. The AIRC fundraising during the October event will finance three triennial scholarships, 75 thousands euro each, for three young Italian researchers. As for all the projects promoted by the Association, the funds will be allocated according to a straight and meritocratic process. Rimadesio was an enthusiastic partner of this highly worthy initiative since the very beginning.
Rimadesio approach has always been aimed to higher ecological goals, indeed the company is self-sufficient in power supply and certified according to the highest European standards; but today the word “ecology” means much more. Marco Belpoliti, among the most forward-looking Italian intellectuals, reminded us of that, by describing the birth (actually very recent, at the mid nineteenth century) and the etymological meaning of the term “ecology”, as well as its developments and environmental implications. A “back-to-Nature” goal that needs humans charging themselves of their choices, according to the consumption of either land, as well as objects and words. Finally, the homo faber is not required to deny his will to create, but to overcome the false myth of “novelty”.
Rimadesio participates in DeLightFuL, a visual and sensory exploration of daily living and contemporary space.
An exhibition-event created by Ciarmoli Queda Studio and Salone del Mobile to reflect on the new generations and investigate the way in which they live and conceive the domestic space. A fluid and cross-cutting space, on the edge between technology and archetypal living, public and private, basic needs and new desires to achieve creativity and to overturn the traditional partitions into functional areas.
An integral part of the project will be the short film d'auteur, directed by Matteo Garrone, who evaluates differently the design world, acting into a concrete and at the same time abstract reality through fantasy atmospheres and the simplicity of the tale.
Rimadesio takes part to the furnishing of the new representative Hall of the Farnesina, the Foreign Ministry, with the Opus bookcase. The inauguration of the permanent space, aimed at housing foreign delegations invited by the Italian Government, was held during the presentation of Italian Design Day, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. A demonstration with a strong communicative impact and providing a presentation at the same time in over 100 worldwide locations by many authoritative ambassadors of the extraordinary reality of Italian design.
All events will be anticipated by the screening of the short movie "Delightful" made by director Matteo Garrone for the Salone del Mobile 2017.
Rimadesio achieves the 60th anniversary and chooses to celebrate with four 'unusual' meetings, which took place in Milan showroom, by expressing the values that since 1956 qualify the company worldwide: creativity, innovation, respect for the environment, heritage and taste for challenges. The attitude for a coherent and conscious evolution, which has always characterized Rimadesio, is then resumed in the four events with four exceptional talents, able to interpret the uniqueness of the company's philosophy.
Adventure, space discovery and challenges for the future illustrated by the famous Italian astronaut Maurizio Cheli, during the fourth and final meeting with the protagonists of Rimadesio 60. A special event aimed at discovering the background of an extraordinary reality, full of charm and suggestion.
He was born in Zocca, near Modena, in 1959. He was astronaut for the European Space Agency, now chief test manager in Alenia Aeronautica-Finmeccanica. In 1992 he joins ESA and the year after obtaines the qualification at the Johnson Space Center in Houston to become an astronaut. In 1996 his first mission with the Space Shuttle Columbia, as mission 2 specialist, in other words flight engineer (first Italian to get this position). In 2004 he graduates in Political Sciences at the University of Turin and gets a Master in Business Administration at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris. In 2009 he is member of the organizing committee of the World Air Games. Cheli has an experience of 380 hours in the space and 4500 hours of flight activities on more than 50 different types of aircrafts.
Rimadesio 60 stories, challenges, talents. Giovanni Soldini
A great success for the third appointment with the events Rimadesio 60. The world-famous Italian sailor Giovanni Soldini kept the audience hooked with incredible and engaging stories about his life and his passion for sailing. A unique and captivating personality, which outlined Rimadesio values such as innovation, respect for the environment and taste for challenges.
He was born in Milan in 1966. He starts sailing as a child, thanks to his father. After 26 years of ocean races, two solo World Round and 40 transoceanics, he still sails, facing the toughest races in the world and trying to beat historical records of speed sailing. On February 29th, 2000 he received the Legion d'Honneur, France' highest honor, at the Navy Museum in Paris, by decision of the French President Jacques Chirac for the sea rescue of the sailor Isabelle Autissier. On February 12th, 2004, President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Official appointed him Officer to the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. With his boat Maserati Vor 70 and his crew of eight professional sailors, in February 2013 he breaks the record of the historical Gold Route: 13,225 miles separating New York from San Francisco, through Cape Horn. In January this year, he participates to the legendary Sydney-Hobarth regatta, ranking fourth and first in his class.
The second event related to Rimadesio 60th anniversary gave voice to the writer and researcher Matteo Nucci, academic of ancient world and philosophy. Tales of history and beauty, heroes and famous intellectuals: ancient topics but at the same time surprisingly contemporary. A special night and a tribute to past, present and future history. The chance to meet a person passionate of art, study and research, precious values for Rimadesio philosophy.
He was born in Rome in 1970. Passionate of the Greek world and its heroes, he has studied the ancient world, published essays on the origins of philosophy, Empedocles, Socrates and Plato, and Einaudi in 2009 published his edition of Plato's Symposium. Also in 2009 he published his first novel, Sono comuni le cose degli amici (Ponte alle Grazie), followed in 2011 by Il toro non sbaglia mai (Ponte alle Grazie) and in 2013 by Le Lacrime degli eroi (Einaudi), a fictive essay, reinterpreting the ancient Greek world in the light of the Homeric heroes' tears. He is the author different journey reports for magazines, as Il Venerdì di Repubblica, Flair and, on the web,by Minima et Moralia.
This year Mantova is the "Italian Capital of Culture". Associazione Mantova Creativa and Complesso Museale Palazzo Ducale promote "Abitare Gonzaga 2016", a cultural event to connect the historical and architectural heritage represented by Palazzo Ducale with the best contemporary design. Rimadesio was part of the event, presenting 16 freestanding systems to recreate the ideal dwelling of a cultured and enlightened contemporary patron, following the project of Giampaolo Benedini in collaboration with Peter Hassmann and Renata Casarin.
Rimadesio 60 stories, challenges, talents. Joan As Police Woman
The program of events planned to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of Rimadesio starts with Joan As Police Woman, the famous American song-writer, who performed in an exclusive live with piano and guitar last Wednesday evening, May 18th. Before the show, staged at the flagship store in Milan, an informal chat between Michele Lupi and the artist, a unique opportunity to learn about the character and her extraordinary life, through a story full of personal anecdotes. A special evening of talent and authenticity, values to be shared and recognized, and which characterize the project 'Rimadesio 60'.
Joan Wasser was born in Norwalk, Connecticut (USA), in1970. She started playing piano, when she was six years old and two years later she took her first violin lessons, which will allow her to perform in various school orchestras, including the Boston University Symphony Orchestra. In the late nineties Joan begins to explore different musical experiences and not only related to play violin. She starts then to develop her own personal style, thus becoming known within the indie rock scene. In May 1997, her boyfriend and musician Jeff Buckley, accidentally drowns during an evening swim in the Wolf River in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1999 she joins Antony and the Johnsons, with whom she records the album “IAm a Bird Now”. In June 2002, after moving to New York, she forms a trio and starts working under the name of Joan as Police Woman. She releases several successful albums. On June, 12th 2006 she releases her first solo album, Real Life that, two years later will be honored at the Independent Music Awards for best pop rock album. She starts artistic cooperations with David Sylvian and other famous international artists like Lou Reed, Elton John, Dave Gahan and Rufus Wainwright. The Classic, her most recent album, the fourth one as solo singer, has been released in 2014.
'A Tribute to Domus 1000', presented during the Milano Design Week in the windows of the Benetton store in Piazza del Duomo, extends its public display by La Triennale di Milano. The exhibition has been hosted the 16 special editions created for the occasion by international design companies, in the two Pantone colours of the Year 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Rimadesio presented the bookcase Sixty in the exclusive and dedicated finishing Pantone Serenity.
XXI Triennale Milano - 'Stanze. Altre filosofie dell’Abitare'
After twenty years since the last edition, the Milan Triennale hosts an exhibition dedicated to the interior architecture: 'Stanze. Altre filosofie dell’Abitare'. Edited by Beppe Finessi and organized by the Salone del Mobile.Milan, the event will be part of a wider program of events planned during the fair. Among the provided 11 rooms, Rimadesio will take part with Ursus, by Duilio Forte, an artwork connected to the poetry of the famous artist-architect based on the theme of 'domestic landscape', developed according to the principles of ArkiZoic manifest. A partnership between Rimadesio and Duilio Forte, with a common desire for tests and research in design and contemporary living.
XXI Triennale International Exhibition

Classic icons of both Italian and international design pay homage to the 1000th issue of the magazine Domus dressing up with Pantone colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. An exhibition realized in collaboration with Fabrica, which sees the windows of the flagship store United Colors of Benetton, in piazza Duomo, to frame the display. Rimadesio took part to the event with Sixty, the bookcase with subtle reference to the sixties, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, presented in an exclusive Pantone Serenity color.
During its first anniversary, the magazine 'How to spend it' has organized a charity initiative, inviting some important Italian brands to interpret its cover in a creative way. Rimadesio participates with 'New Life', a handmade work created by Giuseppe Bavuso, who took inspiration from kintsugi, a Japanese technique providing for the restoration of broken objects, by combining together the pieces with a resin mixed with gold, silver or platinum.
The relevance of this technique, which over time has become a real 'Art', is really deep: according to the philosophy of kintsugi, the broken and then repaired object is actually a metaphor for life and the changes that are part of it.
After the show at Mudec in Milan, the works has been auctioned online. The proceeds from the auction has been donated to 'Save the Children' for the realization of an Italian project.
The program of events 'spirit of the project', the tour dedicated to the presentation of the new catalog, which involved the Italian Rimadesio monobrand showrooms, has now come to an end A trip through Italy of more than two months, with one common denominator: the interest into the design and interpretation of contemporary living. A unique initiative and above all a great success, confirming the Rimadesio showrooms, as meeting and socialization places.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, Elle Decor Italy organized "the celebration", an event dedicated to the world of interior decoration and image. Palazzo Morando, in the center of Milan, has been chosen for the occasion. It hosted a rich photographic exhibition and for two weeks it became a hub of creative design with cultural events, debates and interviews with professionals and experts. Rimadesio took part to the event, through images dedicated to the company, published by the magazine over the years.

Rimadesio has joined ADI, the Association for the Industrial Design, the Italian reality gathering designers, companies and academia related to design: project, consumption, recycling, training. Since 1956 ADI's mission is to promote an idea of project awareness, ethical and socially sustinable.
After three selections Rimadesio becomes for all purposes and intents ADI Design Index and after getting in 2008 the first report of the Premio Compasso Award, also becomes an integral part of an association, leader of the development of the industrial design, as a cultural and economic phenomenon.
The new Mexican Rimadesio Flagship store, located in the Park Plaza commercial area in Santa Fè, has been opened on December, 5th 2013.
A bright 150 sqm open space, characterized by a glass window overlooking the adjacent green area of the commercial area. The space is completely dedicated to the collection, in order to explain the Rimadesio’s conception of living with all the possible solutions for for the house and workspaces.

Milan, Furniture Fair 2014: Rimadesio presents its most recent interpretation of the contemporary home. The complete collection is the main protagonist of the display space of 400 sqm: from the living area, explored through an exceptional variety of proposals in the central open space, to the night area, displayed with different walk-in closets and the evolution of the unique storage system Cover.
Walking through the entrance corridor, the visitors immediately notice one of the 2014 novelties: the Wind bookcase. The large open space in the middle of the booth, a regular feature in the Rimadesio display projects, is characterized by the latest proposals of Self and Abacus day systems, together with the new Alambra and Self up glass cabinets .
The variety also defines the interpretation of the wardrobe sytems, with the proposals of Dress and Abacus walk in closets and the unique versatility of the Cover project, displayed in two versions: bookcase and wardrobe. The middle room Dolmen composition completes the area dedicated to the night area.
A space designed to allow visitors to experience completely the new Rimadesio proposals, defined by the aesthetics of the two main corporate materials: glass and aluminium, which in 2014 have reached new standards of sustainable production. A unique style of living, inspired by the maximum stylistic coherence in each component of the design project.
For a weekend Desio becomes capital in Lombardy for basket. The 2013 edition of "Trofeo Lombardia Rimadesio" will take place in Paladesio in Largo Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, on September 28th and 29th with a quadrangular basketball match involving four of the most important lombard teams of the national series: EA7 Milano, Lenovo Cantù, Vanoli Cremona and Centrale del Latte Brescia.

Appointment in Rome for the big event on September 19: On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the collaboration between Rimadesio and Stuarr, the historic showroom located in Via Gregorio VII 162 will be opened for the public completely renovated in setting and architecture , flanked by a completely new space located at number 144-146-148.
The new space has 6 windows,which overlook on the central artery of the capital city, and is developed on two levels, with a raised technical area dedicated to the doors and walk-in closets. The overall project, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, represents the declination of the exhibition modalities established by the company's flagship store in Milan.
The total surface of the exhibition area of the two spaces will rise to 260 square meters, completely dedicated to present the even more wide variety of products of the Rimadesio collection .
